Family
Family members care deeply when a parent, grandparent or spouse struggles with safe driving. How can they help, without undermining independence?

•  Adult children and grandchildren often live hundreds of miles away or they are unable to leave work to provide the rides they know their parents and grandparents need.

•  Spouses worry about safety but fear the isolation and dependence of being without a car.

How Can Family Members Help?
With ITN's door-through-door, arm-through-arm service, older family members are as safe as if their own children were there to open the door and carry the packages. Adult children may set up a personal transportation account for their parents, and they may have monthly statements sent either to the parents or to the adult children.
From time to time, family members may help with transportation through ITN's Gift Certificate Program . Many adult children choose to take a complimentary first ride with a parent.

Adult children may store ITN® transportation credits by volunteering to drive seniors in their community. Because ITN America™ is designed as a nationally affiliated system, their parents may use those credits for ITN® rides in the community where they live, thousands of miles and time zones away.

Family members may support their local ITN by joining the organization as a dues paying member or by helping with the annual community support campaign, the March of the Members.

The Ride & Shop™ , Healthy Miles™ and Ride Services programs are all easy ways for families with businesses or healthcare connections in the community to support older people and dignified mobility.
